Dentistry Marketing in 2009: Overcoming The Economy

The economic environment has changed dramatically. Even if your dental practice had respectable revenues in 2008, the ground has shifted and consumers will react accordingly. Dentists that follow the crowd could end up falling off the cliff of generic malaise or getting little to drink at a very dry consumer spending lake.
Recently, a client sent me a newsletter from a dentist consultant who helps practices make decisions about their strategies. That dentists idea was for his dentist clients to start focusing on insurance patients and family dentistry. Basically, because money will be tight for consumers dentists should find ways to do dentistry that costs less. Sounds like a common sense business and dental marketing strategy in these tough economic times.

Dental Health Mission to Malawi

Niche Dental is excited to be a small part of a special dental health mission in Malawi Africa. Dr. Tania Howlett, an oral surgeon in Nashville, Tennessee, and other dental health professionals are heading to this small country in the southeastern part of the African continent.
There are many people and groups contributing including the donation of some significant dental technology. My role is helping to spread the word, update their Dental Specialty Group website and in where ever else they need assistance.

Dick would like to thank Dr. Walter Owens who invited him to speak and introduced him to students.

Marketing Talking Points: Powering Up Referrals
The presidential debates got me thinking about how we remember what other people say. Talking points are the way politicians simplify their message so we can figure it out quickly by hearing it often. Without this simplification fewer people would "get what they are really about".
Your dental referrals are swimming in a confusion of information. Talking Points will increase referrals.

Honoring R J Chwalek - 1926-2008
My father died on Monday September 8, 2008. Richard J. was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and American, serving during WWII as a Aviation Machinist Mate in San Diego, and on the Shamrock Bay and Bennington Aircraft Carriers. He will be missed by many, but more importantly he helped, befriended, and taught many, many more.

Different Marketing for Unique Dentists
Dental Coaching email to new dentist client...
We will gather up a lot about your "brand and service niche" tomorrow and then I will structure how we will proceed in future consults. I like the first one to be fairly free flowing so as not to get stuck in the "box".
It is important to understand how you "see", and what you think about, your expertise, current situation, and future. If it is all about "marketing" strategy - it can end up being a very superficial relationship with little future potential. Whatever we accomplish, it should help you do many things on your own.
